New Gearbox is amazing

Post by Vulpes »

I had to swap gearboxes due to it being impossible to change gears. I cannot believe the difference. It simply falls into each gear now withe short shifter attached. I have always had issues with the gearbox and clutch ever since I got the car, now I am amazed. I will remove the diff today as it is leaking 10 times worse since I tried to fix it in place yesterday. Will send it off this week to get new seals put in.

Personally, I find sloppy boxes very unsatisfying. I like them tight and taught to the point that if you dont have to push to get it in then its probably too old and time to get a new one :P
Never argue with an idiot, it brings you down to their level and they beat you with experience.

How about shifting above 6000rpm, no problems? It's impossible for me to shift above 6500rpm, i'll have to wait untill the rpm drops below 6000rpm.

Can be a clutchrelated problem, not always gerboxproblem.

Anyone tried ATF-oil in the manual box?
Can be realy good if changed often enough...

Gr,

that's the main reason i like the RX7 boxes, as the synchro's are designed for high rpm shifting, the mitsu boxes are not!
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

Personally, I find sloppy boxes very unsatisfying. I like them tight and taught to the point that if you dont have to push to get it in then its probably too old and time to get a new one
