4g64 2.4ltr What is needed to run twin cam turbo setup???
Im about to get my engine rebuilt (starion block VR4 head) but have just found a 4g64 motor, out of a 90ish L300. Now I still want to go twin cam and turbo.
Will the VR4 head bolt to the block, can I use over sized vr4 pistons, instead of expensive custom pistons?
Ive got a big turbo for it and want decent power out of it so Ill also need aftermarket rods also.
Please people who have built these engines.... I need your advice.

CP, Mahle, Manley, Ross and Wiseco make "off the shelf" pistons for using the 4G64 crank in the 4G63 block.
Also be aware the 2.4 is not really a 2.4 at all it's actually 2351cc.

Technically, 2351cc is a 2.4L ;)
If you use 2mm o/s VR4 pistons then it will bring the 4G64B out to 2378cc.
However, if you use the 2.4 crank in the 2l Starion block it will 'de-stroke' it to a 2.3L (2324cc with 86mm pistons; 2297cc with 85.5mm pistons)

Ive found a 7 bolt 4g64 crank. Will this fit into a 6 bolt, wide block? And then use a custom flywheel.

7 bolt = generation 2
they changed somewhere in late 1992 i believe. the differences are flywheel bolts obviously, piston (gudgeon) pin diameter (larger), big end journal width (narrower), extra drains back to the sump from head too in most cases..

Ive just found a 7 bolt wide block 4g64! :D
Do they have the oil squirters for under the pistons? Or at least room to have them installed?
Im going to buy it as its only $100 plus shipping which should work out at around $50.

You might want to double check that the Pressure plate is the same as a Starions ? Or that the Pressure plate fins are the same distance away from the Block as they are on the Starion setup, otherwise your going to be messing around with it for little gain
