Just about to buy some, but what's better to use? Any known issues with either?

personally, I think the red ones look stronger and safer, i'd feel better under a car with those over the blue ones.

Red ones are the go, got a pair myself.

The blue ones are shit! from my experience

I've got the red ones too. I always thought the blue ones look a little too cheaply made.

Only time i'd use the blue ones was if the car was on grass, and as thats never going to happen, definatly the red ones :). I have a couple of sets, they are tidy-as :)

yeah same here
got the red ones, they are alot stronger as a mate has the blue ones and they actually slipped on concrete and lucky we had the rear wheels chocked or hed be in the bellhousing of a datto 1600 :D

You mean you're going to bribe the ref more than you did this year?? :P

I have jack stands like the red ones, but I think they are the old ones that probably got a safety recall on them.. I always chock up the car with more than just stands anyway (trolley jack/spare wheels etc) as a just-in-case precaution.

I have a set of the blue ones! They do what I need them to do, can't see how they'd fail!? They have a load rating on them so...

blue ones look dodge to me... they only have the one bead of weld around the base whereas the red ones are internally braced

Just make sure you get good ones that coply to the Aus standards. You probably can't buy non-complying ones anyway (maybe eBay).

I've a pair of both and my only gripe with the blue ones is they tend to flex a bit more laterally. But as they comply to the AS, I'm not concerned.

I got a set of blue ones... never had a problem with them.. as long as they are placed correctly and you dont do anything stupid while under the car you should be right... i usually leave the jack under the car as well if possible as a saftey measure

I got both but my blues ones have a screw collar.
They both work fine but the red ones go faster.

Some time back (when I was getting one of my beasties ship-shape for licensing), I wanted the red ones, but bought the blue ones because of the price difference. I had the car sitting on four of 'em for a few weeks continuously, which included doing stuff inside the car, under it and everywhere else without any problem.

Bottom line I suppose, is what you're prepared to pay for. I wasn't prepared to pay for the red type - so I bought the blue buggers and bought other essentials with the saving.

red are a much stronger design, much sideload on those blue ones and I would be getting worried.

I've been using the pyramid style for quite a few years, cant go wrong, just dont buy some crappy ones. Its only your life you are risking with cheap stands while working under the car :)
