Turboing a 4G54

Post by TD05 »

A friend's UTE has a carbie 4G54, have been thinking putting a JA TB, inlet manifold, exhaust, ECU + harness, is it doeable?, what's the compression ratio, and are the parts a bolt on affair???

a 4G54 or a 4G64?

If it is a 4G64, then it is doable and the parts will bolt on. What ute is it?

For a 4g54 you need Magna injection ,not Starion

And you need a US 2.6 Starion exhaust manifold if you want to use a Mitsubishi turbo. Or find an old Sigma turbo one if you want to use a Garrett. And yes Magna manifold is the way to go for the intake.
Not sure about the ute engine but Sigma 2.6 was 8.2:1 compression. Everything is bolt on.

a few on starquestclub.com have done exactly that.
Look on http://www.starquestclub.com/cgi-bin/st ... rd=mpimods
or
http://www.starquestclub.com/?board=enginemods
for posts by "matbirch", "tainters" or "lizzord"
"shelby" posted lots of details of his turbo truck also
I they all, and "turboraider" started with tbi/stock ecu

some have boosted their non-turbo ~8.5:1 2.6 fine, with good performance

The rule of thumb over her ein the states is dont run more than 8lbs on a stock d50 g54b block if you are looking for reliability.

Most people here just use all the g54b starion stuff, since its very straight forward

Most starion guys going mpi use the magna intake with a standalone ecu.
