Yep mine will do 240kmh in 4th at 7000rpm, no idea what 5th does yet.
Car seems to have 60kmh splits through the gears, so 5th has a theoretical 300kmh top speed

haha errr no.
1st theres the fact that gearing isnt an even split between ratios, the gap gets smaller and smaller as you go up through the gears, i could work it out but i would need the tyre circumference.
2nd the starion aero probably doesnt support 300km/h, i mean, anything can get to 300km/h if you pump enough power through it but the power required is on either an exponential scale or a ^4 scale (cant remember wich) as you go faster and faster.

edit : your theoretical top speed (from the info i got of starions 5th being 0.856 and 240km/h being exactly 7000rpm in 4th) is 280km/h @ 7000rpm

Well i guess 5th gear could be less than the 60kmh split that the other gears in my car seem to be, but 280kmh isnt too shabby though eh.
I would say you could get 280kmh easy enough with the power or long enough straight, the starion aerodynamics should be fine at 280-300kmh with decent suspension in the car.

I have 16inch rims, 50 profile tyres.

Must say though i do have a VR4 head etc etc etc on my car which helps it really get up and go.

It happened in '97 over here at Barbagallo raceway.
The vehicle in question was a Burgunday JB, with a 3000GT motor fitted.

Yes, that's right...V6 Twin Turbo! 210KW Stock! :o
Only it wasn't stock...

It was a fairly windy day, and you guessed it, there was a head wind coming the main straight. So, no front spoiler, + stock suspension = ridiculously high standard ride height, and minimal downforce.
It's still not known how fast this thing was going at the time, but 3/4 of the way down the straight, just before you start to brake, this thing just swapped ends!
Driver walked away with some bruises and the only serious injury being a cut hand from the glass whilst trying to get out! :wtf:

There was a roll cage installed...luckily!

interesting... so did it actually go right over and back on its wheels, or half over and land on the roof?

I know my dad had problems with the steering getting a bit "light" at 270 odd at bathurst, but not to that extent.

Haha time for some thread revival.
So since 2004, has anyone found a LSD diff which can go onto a starion easily and cheaper than $2k for a starion LSD?
