It happened in '97 over here at Barbagallo raceway.
The vehicle in question was a Burgunday JB, with a 3000GT motor fitted.
Yes, that's right...V6 Twin Turbo! 210KW Stock! :o
Only it wasn't stock...
It was a fairly windy day, and you guessed it, there was a head wind coming the main straight. So, no front spoiler, + stock suspension = ridiculously high standard ride height, and minimal downforce.
It's still not known how fast this thing was going at the time, but 3/4 of the way down the straight, just before you start to brake, this thing just swapped ends!
Driver walked away with some bruises and the only serious injury being a cut hand from the glass whilst trying to get out!
There was a roll cage installed...luckily!
