I went and had a squiz at this today, being totally unable to resist the temptation. I tried really, really hard, but I'm still a chronic MSS sufferer
Not quite in as good condition as it might look in the photo, but....
There is quite a bit of surface rust, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem. Windscreen is cracked, and there is rust under the windscreen; looks like previous accident damage on rear passenger quarter; centre console removed; dash incomplete; the interior is nominally black, but the rear seats are a different colour; various dings on the body, worst in the passenger side door. Has a red JA bonnet, white headlight covers, no front fenders (but there are some other fenders in the back yard). The rear 3-piece spoiler appears to be factory, but I couldn't verify because I couldn't see the mounting points (too much stuff in the car).
Overall, nothing too serious. The 'missing' compliance plate is in the rear, on the chassis bar just behind the rear seats (I believe this is where the JD ones were - can someone confirm?). I saw it, but couldn't read it because there was too much crap in the way (extra front seats, all sorts of other stuff).
There would be mainly a lot of body prep work and some interior work in getting this restored, and then obtaining missing parts (including engine - there is a block/cyl head still there in unknown condition, but that's all.
Bottom line is I would buy this if:
(a) I had the space (I would only have the space if I got rid of my JA shell, but it's in better nick than this beastie)
(b) I made some outrageous promises to my wife that I couldn't possibly keep.
However:
Noddy and I spent quite some time on the phone tonight talking about this, so stay tuned
I also had a peek at the silver JA - this one has a Haltech ECU with the standard JA injection setup. No idea how it runs, but the overall condition of the car was pretty sad.
Starion nutter since 1988...
1983 JA, 1984 JA, 1985 JB (all rego'd, all running :D )
