Best? What are you after?
Something thats notv too cheap, its probably best to stick with a branded one, at least you know it will work on any car thats turbo and you can get parts replaced for it.
I personally opted for a GFB Stealth FX back in 2003, I can adjust the volume completley by choosing how much air I want to vent and the rest is sent back to the air box hose. It dosnt get much better than that in my opinion.

Powerplant: Chipped stock ECU, 2044cc, 8.5:1, head intake enlarged and polished, exhaust manifold enlarged,
Balance-shafts eliminated, Intercooled, TC06 @ 10psi, 2.5" high flow exhaust system and dump pipe.

One that works would be a good idea.
The plastic Bosch ones they fit to Saabs and that are not useful for the Staz, they might only be about $50 new from your local speed shop, but they don't really work well on a standard car's crossover pipe.
And adjustable like S_T said, so you can make it work best.
Hey S_T, hows the Gemini project coming along?

heh, no good, the cars on a different propperty to me coz theres no room for it here, so working on it is to much of a hassel.
Still I'll get there some day.

The sound you describe isn't produced by the SSQ valve itself, its refered to as flutter and it's actually caused by the turbocharger.
Cause is the compresser blades slipping on air (compresser surge) creating a pulse like affect as it pumps air and then slips, this makes the air flow uneven and causes the BOV venting ability to pulse slightly, its most common on nissans.

It’s also the fastest way to kill a turbocharger. Inside all turbo's, ball bearing or journal there are thrust washers, which limits the amount of forward/ aft movement of the entire shaft and wheels. Compressor stall (TEEW, TEEW, TEEW, TEEW) makes the shaft hammer back and forth which WILL wear out these washers in no time at all. Once the washers go the next thing are the turbine oil seals and when they are gone you have a smoky as hell car. This is the main reason BOV/ plumb backs were invented, the fact they reduced lag on gear change was a bonus.
So if at full boost your BOV is still making this noise it means you BOV/ plumb back is not flowing enough Air to alleviate air hammer and compressor stall.
The best way to make this noise is to not use a BOV along with a larger inlet tract IE intercooler and piping, but i hope you have plenty of coin to rebuild turbo's.

boost = the replacement for displacement
