Your motor, your car, end of day its your choice really,
Im keeping the SOHC 4g63 in my build to keep some original aspects of the motor... but with 300-350 hp

Brent Rau 2L has gone 6.8s, and smoked the entire field of 2JZs doing it!!! Not good enough ? lol Thats what I call a dragonslayer.
Shep gone 7.7 in his 2L awd talon, shifting gears! (see link)
You'd be surprised how many DSM veterans r pro 2L, must be a reason.
VR4 u lost me on the 2.6 vs 2L comment :)

I have no idea on power yet, still working on the swap. It's a big deal here in the States since we never got the 4G series. I have a cast T3 manifold and GT35R for the turbo side. Injectors are 1000cc/min. Computer will be Holley Commander 950 with Ford EDIS spark control. Still working on the Intake (It's gonna be ITB).compressor wrote:MainstreaM wrote:Here's mine

It'll be a while before it's back together and running:
New wife + New kid + New house = No money/No time
Ok got the block today, its a wide block with a 7 bolt crank. No oil squarters under the pistons but thats to be expected I guess.
So what am I looking for to see if its got the place to have the oil squarters fitted?
Heres some pics of the 4g64 with its pants down :D

Just a thought...
This crank will fit a evo block.
I know a guy thats making some bellhousings for the evo motors to bolt up to the Toyota W series boxs. So whats wrong with using a 7 bolt evo block? Are they weaker?
I know a guy here in NZ thats got a Evo 7 motor stroked out to 2.4 (ish) in his race starion and it seams fine.

98 onwards 7 Bolt Engines have a revised Thrust bearing.
The issue of 'crankwalk' is the fact that 7 Bolt Engines, thrust bearing clearance is prone to surpassing Factory max limit A LOT sooner then the 6 Bolt Engines...... what happened is all those people who used to check that clearance every 200,000K's if that, on their 1G DSMs' with the 6 Bolt Engines, tried to follow the same routine on the 2G 7 Bolt Engines, except the clearance would be over the Factory limit and too late to repair way before the usual 200,000K check :beer
Check what the Thrust bearing clearance is and if its still near the Factory new Engine specs, then you'll be fine
Oil Squirters is questionable....... Mitsubishi did so as a longevity precaution for Turbocharged Engines with cast Pistons. You can get aftermarket Conrods which have a Feed (from the bottom) to the top of the small End to squirt the Pistons if you really want ?

Computer games don't affect kids I mean if PacMan affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music :D
Do you know where I can get these from?toysrus wrote: You can get aftermarket Conrods which have a Feed (from the bottom) to the top of the small End to squirt the Pistons if you really want ?
I haven't bought rods yet so if they aren't much more I may as well get them :)

Pauter have it available as an Option for extra $$$, but Oliver or Manley may have it standard.... haven't looked into them deep enough.

Serco in qld sells wiseco pistons and might be able to source them for you, the other option is to buy them directly from the states, to be honest its cheaper than buying from someone in australia, its a sad fact that even when you factor in the cost of shipping it by airmail and paying gst on them its cheaper than buying it from someone in australia at retail prices.
