Timing - I need help. the book is crazy

Post by douglovin »

I don't want to mess up my timing. The book is showing the bottom timing mark NOT on the plated link. But the directions say line up the plated links with the timing mark. I am so confused. Here is a picture of the book.

Timing Mark (punch on sprocket) The arrow is bent going by the image.

Looks like the mark and plated link should be at 3o'clock.

Ok the only punch on the sprocket is the groove where it slides on the crank. is that the punch?
