JD Starions
This has been bugging me for a while..
I want to know how many JD's were made. it seems to range from 50 to 100..depending on who tell you
Who here has actually seen a JD Starion with a VIN number higher then 50..
Or has good evidence that more then 50 were built...
I say higher then 50 as i own JD number 50..
Any info is a great help.

I was recently told that a previous JD owner had asked Mitsubishi about this and they said that only 49 were sold. However, the highest numbered JD I know of is number 51. Recently, I discovered that the highest JB that can be proven was VIN # 00217.
Now, there was a total of 1638 JA/JB/JD Starions sold by Mitsubishi Australia. 1349 were JAs. So this leaves 289 JB/JDs. The highest number that I can find is JB #217 and JD #51. These means that the potential number of JDs is up to 72 (289 - 217), unless any JBs higher than 217 are located.
Now, if anyone hasn't registered their car's details (especially JB/JDs), please do so in the link in my sig. :)

JD
Another thought i had was, what if Mitsubishi made 52 JD's. As 52 is the minimum number that needs to be made for the car to be homologated for certain racing classes,,,
Damn there is 51... Would have been nice to have the last Aussie Starion

Ive got evidence that this is wrong,, Ive seen the VIN number of JA Starion number 1122. Im sure someone on this site has a JA with a higher VIN number.Mr Ralliart wrote:In Australia they sold 1000 JAs , 500 JBs and 165 JDs .

Well that's apparently wrong according to JPC aswell..........Cookiemonster wrote:It's something like:
JA's: 1265
JB's: 200
JD's: 86
The exact numbers are in an issue of Fast Fours and Rotaries from years ago.
Have you got the copy of the FF&R mag ? or remember which car featured ont he front ?
Computer games don't affect kids I mean if PacMan affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music :D

OK, found the article.
The article is called Unsung Hero and is in the May '94 issue of Fast Fours and Rotaries.
It states that a total of 1638 Starions were sold in Australia. JA's account for 1349 sales.
Now Im absolutely certain that I recall reading somewhere that only 86 or 89 JD's were sold. It's 86 or 89. Stupid six and nine.. they look too much alike.
Therefore, according to my calculator, either 200 or 203 JB's were sold.

All this has been stated before, the last time was in the 3rd post of this thread. It is based on the article that Cookie is referring to as well as VIN #'s found on Starions sold in Australia.
