And here I was thinking that max MPH/KMH was entirely dependant on the size of ones gonads :roll:Entaran wrote:I got bored and decided you needed to be put back in your box.
KM 163 5 speed maunal cordia box ratio's
1st 4.226
2nd 2.365
3rd 1.467
4th 1.1.05
5th 0.855
reverse 4.109
final drive 5 speed 1.8 litre = 3.466
final drive 2 litre 5 speed 3.187
speedo gear ratio drive19/driven16
max mph = (rpm * tyre circumference) / (gearratio * finalratio * 88)
Therefore
Max mph = (rpm * tyre circumference (feet)) / (0.855 (5th) * 3.466 * 88)
max mph = (rpm * tyre circumference) / 260.78184
max mph = Given your page 1 redline of 6k... but for fun's sake we'll say 8k (bullshit@!)
max mph = (8000 * tyre circumference) / 260.78184
tyre circumference = 16 inch 50 profile, assuming 16x7 inch tire approx 215/50/16,
215 mm * 60 % + 8inches = 344mm / 2 = 172 mm tire height (rim to tread extreme), plus... 8 inches, 8 inches = 203.2mm, therefore tyre RADIUS = 375.2mm.
Circumference = pi * D = r= 375.2, D= 2r = 3.141592654 * 750.4 = pi * 750.4 = 2347.45113 mm, = 2.34745113 m. = 7.702 feet.
------
max mph = (8000 * 7.702) / 260.78184)
max mph = 61616 / 260.78184
max mph = 236.274 mph oh and your gearbox will explode.
Let's play with your REDLINE
6000 rpm = 177.20559 mph.
max KMH = 285.2 kmh
So, your game is over. Now shutup. No matter how much power you put through your engine you won't make it to 320 kmh due to your GEARBOX RATIO's. Now please, STFU and go away.
OH AND THE FUN PART???? I FORGOT TO INCLUDE FRICTION/AIR RESISTANCE. SO ASSUMING YOU CAN ACTUALLY MAKE THESE SORTS OF RPM in 5TH, You won't make these speeds because of DRIVETRAIN LOSS AND AIR RESISTANCE. Mmmmm. sexy. Again, STFU, go away. kthxbye.
Why the Starion will ALWAYS be slower than the Cordia :P
Umm, if I was too atempt the 300k barrier, don't you think I would use a set of cheap 2nd hand 65/70 profile tyres on 16" wheels, considering that'ld only cost $100 ?
I have done all the calculations you just did ages ago so I don't know why you wasted your time doing it all over again.....
And the rev limit would be 7500 so 7000 (330Km/hr running the 50 profile) would be where it'ld take it to if I've still got enough track left

Computer games don't affect kids I mean if PacMan affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music :D

I -dare- you to run 65/70 profiles at over 300kmh. With sidewall flex they'll instantly disintegrate and hopefully you (and possibly your car) with them. Keep the rest of us happy at least.
If you'd done those calculations you would have posted them. Also, if you UNDERSTOOD those calculations you'd understand that changing the circumference of the tire doesn't really do much except increase rolling diameter. This INCREASES drivetrain stress and therefore DECREASES top speed (in the real world) due to friction increase. Theoretically it looks good, but let's play with a real world application.
Oh, your brain farted out halfway through that? I'm sorry. Welcome to the world of Mechanical Engineering.

Entran - be warned, he likes to wind us up :P This thread was to show off his fancy new gauges and stir us up a little :)
Dont take it too seriously, as easy as that is, we must restrain ourselves :) His actual targets with the car are more realistic.

Seriously are you ok ? There's not a track here in S.A. to even test it at those speeds, it would have to be on an frozen lake like 12+ Hours drive out of town and even then I would want to be sure that its safe.......
Your talking to wrong guy about Mechanical Engineering, 4th Year Electrical Engineering and Bachelor of Science (Physics) with Final year coming.....the calculations took like 5 mins to do on paper, and would've taken like 20mins to type it out like you did.......
You should also know that when Tyre speed ratings are calculated, the tyre must be able to exceed and withstand its speed rating by a certain percentage, probably 50% more but I don't know the ADRs' and testing procedures so to say the tyre is going explode is quite unintelligent.......heck I wonder why Top fuel dragsters don't blow out there 200 or so profile tyres running 400+ Km/hr even if it only is for a short period of time
A higher Top speed increases drivetrain stress not increased rolling diameter but a wider tyre will increase drivetrain stress at the same speed to that of a skinner tyre and even such these effects are negligable compared to that of rolling diameter changes.
Please your wasting my time here, I wasn't being as serious as you think, its a possibility that I might attempt, but I won't be doing so in the near future so just let it go.....

So long as you keep getting 10+ Starion's showing up for cruises then it'll be safe to keep the name the same :PStazzyBabyYeah wrote:I think we should change the forum name to AUCORDIA

Dam strait! Was still a good day despite the fact that we didn’t get the turn out indicated on the forum.toysrus wrote:So long as you keep getting 10+ Starion's showing up for cruises then it'll be safe to keep the name the same :PStazzyBabyYeah wrote:I think we should change the forum name to AUCORDIA
