Parts ie. Turbo Gaskets/Guides/Seals, Rings

Post by Camotec »

Hey guys,

Just quick questions, as you all know my rings are screwed and my turbo is stuffed. I have a spare smaller TC05 but i will prolly end up grabbing a TC06 or even a hi-flowed one.

My questions are:
1. How much should i expect to pay for rings? i got quoted $170 from a guy who deals with mitsu.

2. Where can I find a few good places to get parts to suit starions like these turbo seals etc. and maybe piston rings if that isn't a good price.

3. how much would you expect a mechanic to replace rings and put new seals and guides in a turbo? not a full turbo machine service.

Any parts contacts would be great as this rebuild is getting underway
I have decided to not respray the staz just yet as the paint isn't too bad yet. and I will prolly get it resprayed the same colour anyways (just with good quality 2pac paint)

Cheers

I had a tco5 rebuilt an cost me $500 just seals an guides, um an I rebuilt the engine for just under a grand. That was rings bearings cons an mains + full gasket kit. an just had the block hoond out an the shaved an total was mid 900rd's. would say put another 600-700 to be done at a shop. pluss they will most likly want to put new pistions.

they are not replacing my ralliart forgies hehe they touch em and they die heh.

Ok well the guy quoted me around 2k MAX for parts and labour including head gasket, intake and exhaust gaskets, rings, turbo bits and to crack test the rods and pistons, head. (crack testing ain't hard lol) when working on the aero engines tis a simple 2 pack spray process.

I would do the work myself but i want a fallback guy heh :)
plus it is done with priority.

Anyone know a good staz replacement bits place??

It cost me around $1.2k to rebuild my engine, New bearings, Rings, Pistons. dunno what i paid for the parts would have to look them up. i think i got most of my parts cost price through a friend.
If you get a gaskte rebuild kit it comes with all the gaskets, including turbo one's. and also valve guides. If i remember i shall look up the prices on these things on the reciepts

Fair enough then, If i had those pistons I would'nt let any one try an replace them one as well. 2 grand sounds about right to me for all the work thats involed but only just.

Camotec, give Coltspeed a call. You can supply him with your block and turbo and get him to wave his magic.

At least call him up and get an idea of price. Remember.. you get what you pay for.
