Fuel Pump

Hey guys

Which fuel pump is a good drop in replacement for the standard starion one? Im not really sure what to look for with fuel pumps but it has to support tthe mpu conversion with 550cc injectors and a larger turbo in the future.

Most people here seem to go for the Commodore VL Turbo fuel pump (<$200). Fits in the same place fine, but you'll need to change the outlet fitting (easy job).

I put one of these beasties in some time ago and it works fine. My beast is stock though (for now).

You can also try a Bosch pump, they have one that pumps about 130 Litres/hr - that should be enough. Cookie and I are running 165 ltr/hr Bosches on the track cars but thats to cater for bigger injectors than what you want to run and obviously longer WOT demands on the fuel flow.

I would take JPC's advice, the VL Turbo pump seems a good alternative at the right price. Others are using them and all seem to be handling it fine.

Yep vl pump all the way, got mine new for $190 from star performance autos in fivedock.

apparently the VL pump flows about the same as the starion pump, also VL, VL turbo and camira pumps are all the same part no.

Go for a bosch motorsport of some kind.

I was looking at a Coventry's cat. today and noticed Bosch 800 horse
power fuel pumps for $356.00 . Maybe an overkill LOL

Just get the Bosch 910 pump for under $200. It flows much more than the VL pump and costs the same.

does anyone actually know if there is a difference between a VL fuel pump and a VL TURBO fuel pump? :roll:

ok and on to the second part of the question which was partially answered in another thread,

when using the bosch 910 mounted on top of the tank (i dont think it will fit in the standard position), is it possible to use it without a lift pump and surge tank? If you have used this pump before please share your experience with it.

I would LIKE to avoid having to put a surge and lift pump into the boot as well but if thats what i have to do to get this all running really well then that is what I will do. Any ideas on what is a good lift pump and where to look for a surge? OR are there any other pumps that I could use in place of the bosch 910 that would allow me to run the system without a surge and lift?

They are all the same pump, some may have differing numbers tho and make sure u get the main pump out of the car and not just the pre pump.

In Sydney best wrecker to get em from is C Young Auto dismantlers in Chipping Norton, Depending on their mood u can get em for $10 or $40 at most.
