What do you mean by extremely hot?
Is it glowing all the time??
Turbos do get hot, thats just how they are. It's not uncommon for them to be glowing after a hard drive. If the excess heat was caused by vibration or play in the impeller then the turbo just wouldnt last very long at all due to the high rpm and would prolly be broken already.

BAH! if it doesn’t glow then your not pushing it hard enough!!! :D
try to get it to glow bright red, then you can see any defects in the casting and exhaust manifold cracks become really easy to find :D
just remember to crank the turbo timer up to a couple of minutes or more be4 you turn it off.
I figured out the meaning of life, and since then every day just gets worse.

Warranty void if stupid.

Its quite common to see the exhaust glowing red when on the dyno (hard to see when you're moving on the open road ;) ),although that pic is glowing brighter than a typical dyno run. If it starts to glow yellow or white, then you're really pushing it.

Typical exhaust temp is around 850 degrees C, so glowing manifolds and turbo's are normal if under sustained load.

And on a staz they glow nice red as well

After flooring it and doing 230 for more then 5 km and then stopping at night..(like pulling into a Mc Drive)
Pop the hood and watch the nice red glow. :D
Offcourse don't turn yer engine off.. that would be bad for the turbo
