Questions about radiator reserve bottle

Post by enthuzed »

So, you folks who've added intercoolers to your cars when they didn't have them prior, where did you mount the radiator reserve/overflow bottle?
Particularly those who've installed their coolers way out in front of everything else.
In my case I ran my piping through the radiator support between the airbox and the radiator, right where the bottle used to be....

Suggestions?

And is there an optimum height it should be at when installed?
Do you use the same bottle or something different?

Thanks.

I suggest to try and get an overflow bottle + bracket from an intercooled Starion (plenty in the US) and have it mounted in the factory location.
You would need to make sure the TB side of I/C piping doesn't interfere.

Thanks Mal, I'm not sure what the GSR V/VR bottle would look like as I've not taken a detailed look at it.
Just to describe a bit clearer what I've done, I've bought the cooler pipe up under the airbox (factory location still but cut off the metal airduct underneath & plated it over) then it heads up and out the slightly enlarged factory hole in the radiator support. The pipe virtually goes through the panel at close to 90 degrees now. Will the bottle still fit? Got a close up pic of its location please?

Frank, you only really need about 500ml, we have some that are about the size of a coke can, or shit taller, but the diameter of a coke can.
