Headlights

Post by Blair »

Hi Guys,

My headlights are playing up a wee bit, I can only sometimes (if I'm luck) flick between high beam and low beam. Most of the time if i try and put on the high beams the lights just go off completely. Occasionally if i flick the stalk (hahaha thats rude) then it does switch to high beams.

Obviously the lights themselves are fine, I'm wondering if its the switch thing on the stalk (thats what the mechanic thought too)??? Ive read in other posts about people having issues with 'relays' but none of the pictures they've posted are there any more.

Any advice? Is there somewhere i can buy another 'stalker switch'??

cheers
Blair

The correct name for that is the Combination switch blair.

And I think you will have to have it rebuilt as such.

I've got a spare JA one you can try!

I'm pretty sure it's some poor contact that's causing the problem with the sports steering wheel there and all.

Can post to you next week! PM your address details!

Something you might not have considered...have you checked the wattage of the globes you have? Anything more than a 55/60w and you could have or have had some frying of wires. Depending on where the issue resides you could have these issues. They usually melt the wiring connector, but it could stuff up within the stalk, and you can get a shorts in the combo stalk.

It is highly likely that something physically has gone wrong inside the stalk.
