'81 Scorpion
Yeah, it's pretty sweet. Is white, front end is in primer atm. Has mild twin carb G180Z (or whatever it is, 1.8L Isuzu motor), manual, LSD of some description, Simmons B45's, suspension work etc. Had widened 13" steelies with fat white-letter BFG's originally, imo they looked a ton better than the B45's but hey.

This is still sitting about doing jack, it's pretty wet at the moment.
Anyway. The car has no motor again, I'm in the process of putting Magna rods in the 2.6 to avoid any potential balance issues with replacing just one rod. Would put the pistons in as well, but 12.5:1 compression is probably a bit high for an otherwise mostly standard engine, lol.
2.6 shortblock and wideblock 5spd are going back in the car, with the modded head, cam, port-matched intake and rebuilt Jap carby from the 2L and a set of 4-2-1 extractors I picked up off my sister's boyfriend for $30. I'll have to work out a way to adapt the 2 1/4" outlet to the current exhaust (which is basically a factory system with the front muffler removed), not ideal but I'll get something made up after rego.
Once it's running nicely again it's off for a wheel alignment then it should be right for a blue slip. Fingers crossed nothing else shows up in between now and then.

12.5:1 compression with a turbo? sounds like you need water injection my friend

ahh actually disregard that.. no turbo = can't use a pressure switch to turn the thing on
although i suppose you could tune it to work based on tps output....

Gonna concentrate on tidying this thing up for now. Has a 20c piece sized hole at the bottom of the passenger rear quarter that probably needs plating, but seeing as I don't know anyone with a MIG and can't really weld to start with I'm just going to bog it. Could also do with a paintjob, but that's not really a high priority at the moment. It's pretty straight (other than the one rust patch), just has a white/silver front end and rooted paint on the roof and bootlid.
Should be registered by the end of next month, after that I'll start piecing together the bits to build myself a solid EFI 2.6. Will basically be the 103kw TR/TS Magna engine, but I'll be using the Scorpion block.
Would also like to get my hands on a Triton KM132, as I've heard that they're pretty much a Starion box with a cable clutch, making for a simpler conversion.
Front suspension is being organised, 3-bolt GH struts shortened to run SW20 MR2 rear inserts. Factory spring perch is being retained, I'll be running normal lowered springs as I have no need for height adjustibility. The matching 3-bolt steering arms will get the lock stops ground down for a bit more steering angle.
Also, I've decided on wheels. 15x8 +0 and 15x9 -10 Rota Shakotans, wrapped in 195/50 and 205/50 rubber.
Gonna concentrate on tidying this thing up for now. in regards to that rust.. ensure you can at least cut most of it out and use rust converter before attempting to put bog/material in to fill the gap. You could get away with cleaning it up and ensuring no rust is under the paint.. and its only metal or close to it.. and if possible to get around behind it and put something flat to hold say a piece of cut out metal in place.. that might work good which then also if you fibreglass to hold that bit in place will also be a rust prevention.. (so i've been told).. sand it down and bog,sand it down also and bobs your uncle. a bit dodgier but in your case it should do the trick.. just apply rust converter mixed with water onto cleaned surfaces and it should kill most of it of.

I tried one of those boxes in a Sigma a few years back & didn't like the ratios. 1st was very slow, which then spread all the other gears. But hey, you might like it that way. Scored a free turbo off a mate today, it's farking tiny lol. One of the factory turbos off a JZZ30 Soarer.
Steel wheel, zero shaft play, apparently good for 14psi of megaresponsive goodness. Should be fun
Gonna see what I can knock up by way of a J-pipe (lol, I know) and see what happens.

Long time no update.
Tiny turbo is goneski, gave it to a mate to put on a 4K. Should be lol-worthy.
G54 is on the stand in the shed, ripped it apart to discover shagged balance shaft bearings and a couple broken rings. No bore damage though, thankfully. Bores are bloody brilliant, no wear lip and there's still a faint crosshatching from the last time it was re-ringed. Standard size, too. Gonna be able to get away with just a re-ring and a hone, which is always nice.
Balance shaft eliminator kit, new rings and a hone, come at me. Should be running soon.
Oh, attempted to weld up the front half of the exhaust as well. It's basically a set of 4-2-1 extractors with a 2" in/out 18" hotdog (stole it from an N13 Pulsar with a ghey cannon, lol) welded to the end, and a slip joint welded to the end of that to attach it to the rear half of the exhaust, which will be stock for now.
Didn't *quite* work. Birdshit welds aside it's held together fine, no holes or anything, but there's a bit of cut/weld required so it lines up right. As it stands, the aforementioned slip joint is about 30mm below where the stock flange would be. Will get onto that this weekend.
Gonna stick to this plan, it's a good one. Somebody deliver a resounding e-slap if I deviate from it.
-Rebuilt Astron I, deleted balance shafts, matchported intake, 34ADM, dodge up an airbox setup using a carby hat, a few silicone bends and whatever airbox I can get to fit where the overflow is, extractors, my dodgy exhaust.
-Give the gearbox a birthday. New shifter bushes, oil, seals etc.
-Cut EF Falcon front springs, Monroe GT-Gas shocks (front), '78-'80 Lovells lowered springs, Magna wagon shocks (rear)
-Inside, stock seats, nice, dishy 340mm Momo tiller, HKB boss kit.
-Outside, fix the rust, GK GSR boot spoiler (matte black), Mk1 Golf lip.
-14x6 +17 Fortrans, 185/65 tyres (front), 14x7 +0 Centrelines, 185/65 tyres (rear)
Things will obviously get less dodgy in the future, lack of $$$ is a major issue here.
Was REALLY hoping to have this done in time for WTAC, but that didn't happen so I'm going to aim for Wakefield matsuri instead. Also wanna have a go at Huntley in November.

sounds like a nice plan mate. from what i've seen the mk1 golf lip looks pretty rad if i'm thinking of the right one. got a picture of the one you mean? gearbox plan is good to.. i should probably get mine sorted out before flogging it lol.

I honestly think the golf lip wouldn't suit the scorpion, but to each their own..
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.
