How much is my Starion worth?

Post by Bruzman »

Today I had a crushing defeat as I found out I could not afford registration. I am a Student and I was hoping to scrap together enough for 6 months rego. I got my Pink-slip late yesterday and went to get a quote for my Green-slip. My rego has been out for around 4 and a half weeks while I got everything 100% for Pink-slip. Turns out you cannot get 6 months rego if the car has been out of Rego for more than 21 days.

A full 12 months of Rego is my only option and would cost be $882. As a Student, between bills and rent there is no way I can afford to get 12 months of Rego before my 90days runs out and i need to get it Blue-slipped. Unless I win the Lottery, if it goes to blue-slip I wouldn't have the money to do it. I don't know if a car this old would even pass blue-slip.

I died inside when I found out. I have spend all my money and time working bit by bit to get this car how it is. When I got it, it wouldn't even turn over or run under load. I spent months obessing about it. I just feel sooo crap right now.

So, I am forced to sell my Starion. At lest I can pay off my loaned money I used to resurrect this old-gal.

Forget mods, they dont = $$$ resale value.

Its a JA, that needs work, with no rego.

$1500 max im guessing. $1000 would be reasonable

that sucks in your situation man.. im just lucky i dont have any debt at this point of time.. being a 1st year apprentice mechanic gives you near to no wages so i gotta cope with the things i buy and money i earn.. hence all the diy i do.. mate even though your a student if you have come this far now.. and the lads above are saying you won't get much in its current condition.. at least get it running properly, tidy up the rear bar and the dent on the side and its value should be alot more i would say? or put it to the side and save as much as you can.. sounds like nsw is crap... qld is the way to go to get a 30yo car on the road.. once a roadworthy is obtained.. you simply walk through from there.. but yeah mate. i hope your making the right decision as i've seen numerous people sell cars and regret selling them when that was their pride and joy that can't be replaced.

Hang on to it, leave it until you have more cash. You don't lose anything until you sell something.

Yeah mate, hang onto it for better times. looks nice enough, needs a bit of TLC but obviously you've already put a bit of time into it. unless you need the cash you can keep it ticking over.

They are genuine White Speedy Rims. I recently had to get one repaired and I was told they are genuine and good quality.. They came with the car when I got it.

They are 17's
Both back and front have bad offset
Back rim's do not need spacers because they clear the rear shocks, tho they are not flush with the guards.
Front rim's need 12mm spares to clear the front shocks.

Originally the guy was using two 5mm spacers on each front wheel. Horrible choice of rim's for the starion, but I kept them because i don't have the cash for somethnig nice that would fit, plus it does look kind of nice

If it helps at all, I've had my lawn ornament for a number of years (4 I think), still in the process of getting it back on the road.
