Help me build a stroker
Help me build a stroker
Hi all, I recently bought Lummys oringed VR4 block:

I'm having a hard time finding a stoker kit in 86.5mm.
From my research Weisco are the only ones who offer pistons in 86.5mm bore but dont do them in a stroker kit.
If I bought these:

with a 100mm Eagle stoker crank what rods will I need?
Any help appreciated.

Re: Help me build a stroker
Unless there is another company that makes 86.5 stroker pistons as a stock item you may have to pay to get custom = $$$$ ones made.vr4ced wrote:Hi all, I recently bought Lummys oringed VR4 block:

My 2323cc stroker has 86mm Wisecos & Eagle rods.
From memory 86mm was the maximum recommended ?overbore.
I've had mine since 03 07 92

Thanks for the reply.
Overnight I got a response from an ebay seller asking if this kit is available for a 6 bolt.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... OTORS:1123
They say that it is. Is Manley a good brand?
For anyone elses future reference the part numbers they gave me are #605105C-4 (pistons) #14021-4 (rods).
87mm is maximum overbore on DOHC engines, though most people only go out to 86mm. Starion blocks might be different though.

Don't know if TC blocks are better/different than Starion blocks regarding overboreing and cylinder wall thickness but the cylinder centres are the same but 86 mm was what I was told is the max overbore the factory recommended.vr4ced wrote:Thanks for the reply.

Happy to be corrected by specialists in that area if this is not right :)

If you can't find /get pistons then you have 2 choices, build a 2 litre or buy another block if you must have a stroker.
I guess the moral is do homework first before opening wallet

Mate, I ran 86.5mm Ross Racing pistons in that block. I may still have them here if you're interested? They're about 9:1 from memory. My engine builder has taken these blocks to 87mm with no issues, but you'll get differing opinions from everyone you speak to. If you want new pistons, try Ross, they make very good stuff.
i didn't see this in the for sale thread.. what's your asking price? and.. what are you putting in it's place??Adriano wrote:Or buy my stroker bottom end.
