I have recently watched this brilliant documentary about Ayrton Senna that is due for release in the next couple of months. IMHO, this is the most gripping motorsports documentary that I have seen and I highly reccommend it for any F1 or motorsports fan. I was glued to the TV for all of the 2:42m...

It is in English and Portugese and many versions will require an additional subtitle file to be used, however, I have found an excellent veesion that has English subtitles hardcoded into the movie file:

You're welcome, Cookie. I know how much you love Senna. ;) I refused to watch any version without subtitles and was glad to have found this version. Will be buying the DVD/Bluray when it is officially released.

I enjoyed the documentary because it showed vision that I hadn't seen before and also had a number of informative facts about him and also his accident.

it is late, way too late yet I could not stop watching. I see now Cookie why you loved the man. I was amazed by his humility, his sensitivity but mostly by his faith. I cannot wait to meet the man, he was so sure of himself yet humble, always gave due credit to his creator and I cannot help but feel after watching that he knew he was going home soon. Thank you for posting that link.

Senna had god given talents that none of us could explain and despite his hardness on the track, his compassion and humanity was amazing.

I'll give you all this to dwell on as well. It explains the man by a man who knew him probably about the best - Martin Brundle.

Even Schuey rates Senna number 1.

Greg, thanks for putting that link up, I am truly in awe of this man who before I am almost ashamed to say I knew nothing about. In that video he comments on his 1990 Jpanese GP with Prost incident in the first corner by saying " I am not designed to come third of fifth" truly he was the most talented driver EVER and you are 100% correct, it was a God given gift. I believe God takes immense pleasure in creating individuals like Senna who know intimately who they are, why they are here and they pursue and hone that with an immovable passion and force. The cynic would say if it was a God given gift and he was such a devout believer then why did he die so young in an accident ? I say to go home to where he was created for after having fulfilled his dreams is far far better and an incredible gift then to waste away here having somebody wipe your bum and feed you through a straw. His funeral and Clarksons comments give testimony to the man he was.

There will be others who are as fast or faster, may break his records as Schuey has done but none and I believe none will ever be as complete a package as a driver and human being as Senna.

I recall a Williams mechanic being quoted as saying when Senna joined the team in 1994 it took but 5 minutes of their opening test session for Senna to have the Williams engineers aghast at the depth of his questions about the car and its engineering. He said some of the questions they could not answer so he told them to have the answer by the time he was suited up! To quote the mechanic in question he Senna was simply "the business".

I regret never having had the time or opportunity to see him in person or on the track.

Through his foundation run by his sister Sylvia, there is an ongoing legacy for the underprivelaged kids of Brazil to realise their dreams. His passion and kindness for his people continues. Quite a man.

I have heaps of Senna stuff here (books, documemtaries etc) and all I can say he was probably the most misunderstood person of the generation.

Maybe one day we can get together (for those that may be interested) and watch and look through some of the stuff I have here.

Way ahead of you cookie myster I downloaded the movie and streamed it off my PC up to my PS3 on the big screen. Still I am sure the blue ray would be better. Lets have a senna night, I'll bring the chips.
