open chamber M8 - same ports and chambers as an M6, but possibly more material where it matters..

That one on ebay sounds like what I need Red, nicely ported should flow some nice numbers! I messaged the ebay seller for numbers on postage. Waiting on a reply! Thanks for the link MrBishi!open chamber M8 - same ports and chambers as an M6, but possibly more material where it matters..
This sounds good too! PLEASE just get it tested for cracks! Let me know the results. PMing you as well Panda.I have a surplus M9 head with valves but no rockers or cam. If you're interested, I'll get it checked for cracks & leaks, or even get it resurfaced if required. Not sure what shipping would be, but weighs 11.2kg unboxed.
Would think it would be less than US$200.
Thanks to all for the helpful info. You aussie guys rock! :beer

I have heard the m8 is a slightly higher compression head than the m6, and m7s. And that the m8 has "kidney" shaped ports and flows a bit less than the gen 2s. Is there any truth to this or is the m8 just as good of a head???
Also I ran across this link today:
http://wankang.en.hisupplier.com/offer- ... -head.html
Anybody have an Idea of which magna head this could be?

the M8 can either be open chamber like an M6/M7, or closed chamber like M9, there is quite a difference in compression, have a look at the pics of the ebay M8, it shows an open chamber..

Open chamber = hemi style as shown in pics
Closed chamber = combusion chamber is shaped like a peanut and hugs the valves. Used as OEM would raise the compression considerably and 'could' create hot spot problems combined with a turbo. You can however open them up and smooth it all out.

You probably don't want to hear this but I went to a pick-a-part wreckers on the weekend and there were at least a half dozen Magnas with M6-9 heads still in the engine bays. Unfortunately they are greasy horrible things to pull bits off and 9 times out of 10 the heads will be cactus. I'm not volunteering to do the leg work for you sorry.

Yeah, there is alsways a few TR/TS Magnas at the pick'n payless down here...not that I would have the time nor inclination to pull heads off engines.
