There's a bit coming up about MX5s at the moment here with carry-on about how much they are hairdressers cars & embarrassing - bullshit! Sure they don't have huge amounts of grunt standard (but improve somewhat with the turbo SE & rarer & faster turbo SP models) but they are so responsive to all inputs & so well balanced. Highly chuckable & so predictable. For what they are, even the oldest model, they are quite amazing. Benders one would be huge amounts of fun, I hope it'll be reliable for him. The unmolested ones are very good in that department. They are great cars, I've driven both Na 1.6 & Nb 1.8. I plan to buy an Nb, put an LSD in it & use it for motorkhanas & khanacrosses & for the reasons I've outlined.

I agree enthuzed they are a great drive, i would LOVE to have an SP. My only gripe is its an auto. You gotta admit that's pretty gay. They are very chuckable and handle brilliantly, the only thing they need is more power and an SP would certainly fix that. I'm even considering getting the wifes turbo charged. I wonder if the auto box would handle it.
Great post, Darryl rofl
Auto MX5?? Erm...I just realised it was you was at the cruise, Darryl
If it's your wife's car, then why were you driving it back from the city last week with her in the passenger seat?
That's twice, mate. Third time and the car is offically yours :D
Oh, and how old are you again? :D
Also spotted Cookie hooning down the M4 yesterday evening in his bright orange go kart ;)

Do bullets count as MX5's? I would have one of those in a heartbeat!
After going on an ozmazda run with a mate through the reefton spur a few years back I have to admit I was pretty impressed at just how good they are in the twisty's, fair to say not the fastest car on the planet but definitely an engaging little car to drive all they really need is a blow drier mounted on the head rest which could double as a helmet.
If at first you don't succeed, maybe skydiving just wasn't your sport!
We took the Jo Bailey ( you know, the gay hairdreser guy from the TV )special yesterday up to Katoomba for breakfast. What a great morning, great food, great roads and incredible mist covered mountains. I had the opportunity to take it or the staz and I decided to take the mx5 because of the convertibleness ( sic?) anyway all it needed was a turbo and a clutch and it would have been perfect !
