85JB, evoIII engine **$6500**

Post by evoJB »

Just a heads up, my JB is going up for sale in the next couple of weeks.
I have owned and modified the hell out of it for the last 10 or so years, so it is hard to see her go. It's time for a family car so I got a Legnum.
Will update this post soon with pics and price (it's not a give away)
mods include;
evoIII engine, only has about 10k's-15k's on it
big T04 with 50mm external gate same age as engine, steam pipe manifold
turbosmart type 2 BOV
metal head gasket, ARP head studs
300x600 cooler
MT8 with handset
RX7 injectors
nice customised 17's from redzone, 5 stud conversion
front and rear grumbly strut bars
front and rear whitline sway bars, nolathane bushes
set of adjustable cam gears
clear cam cover
custom skirts
AEM fuel reg
porsche fuel pump
ford throttle body
relocated p/s pump where the old aircon was, no aircon now
davies craig EWP and controller
battery relocated to boot
All mod plated
redzone US style front bar
European market tail lights
US side mirrors
spare US tail lights, and original JB lights(1 cracked)
Eibach springs and Koni adjustable shocks
button clutch, would suggest changing to one not so harsh for around town
custom billet flywheel
JA bonnet, all other JB bit's in place(inc LSD)
Eagle rods ready to go in
burgundy interior, vinyl rear, covers on velour fronts.
white face guages
spare rear window, drive shafts, rear subframe if wanted, drag link
297rwhp
Not keen on separating bits out.

What gearbox are you running? Is the engine running standard pistons?
I have a feeling a few people will want these questions answered

Running standard EVO 3 pistons, in fact the engine is yes an evo 3 engine. it was rumoured to be a spare engine from a jap rally team or something, i'm sure nick will fill you guys in.

also it's running a modded 2L scorpion/sigma alloy case gearbox converted to hydraulic clutch and starion extension housing.

The engine is standard, sort of, the pistons are .05mm over cast type. It was just rebuilt as redzone said for one of the rally teams but regulations meant it could not be used ant more, that's what I was told by the seller anyway.
I have not opened the bottom end so not sure what's below the .05 pistons but I have a set of eagle rods ready to go in as well to add to the deal.
The cams are original looking with C notations? wern't in the evo book that I could find with Mr Ralliart, and never got to profiling them.
Valves have been redone with 1mm over items.
sorry a bit slow with pics, but needs a wash as the cats like the roof and bonnet for a sleep.
I am getting it re-tuned and a couple of spots of paint cleaned up so all will be good to go, running a bit rich right now.
I do have a price in mind, but will have to see once the above is done. Would prefer one of you get it as you know what it is for 1 and know how much all the crap done costs.
I mean when I started it there wasn't another twin cam around for info, and you know that you wont get change out of 10k for an engine conversion with all the bits that go along with it.

updated first post parts

the gears are narrower, however this isnt the weakening factor in KM132's, it's the DIAMETER of the gears and the spacing thereof. Nick has a starion box that comes with this car to install the starion gears if it ever needed doing, however i dont think it would.

I know of a red sigma with a 320 rwhp 4G63 dohc that was raped at powercruise with a GE scorpion box, took it in its stride. the downside with these boxes is high rpm shifting, not strength.

So far the box seems fine, but as Dave said there is a spare starion box sitting in his shed collecting dust for me :P

I have decided not to go ahead with the paint touch ups. Body is pretty well very straight, rear bumper is losing paint all over the place though. Mr Ralliart spent ages prepping and repainting but thinks it may have been soaked in something as the paint keeps coming away from the bar. The whole front was redone 18 months ago, filler cap and spot on the arches showing rust coming through.

The doors should be replaced in my opinion due to the rust starting to appear in the bottom of them but would probably be easily repaired by the right person.

pics coming this weekend

Thanks man, here are some more pics from today;
You should be able to see the small spots of rust appearing in bottom of the door pics, I've heard I'm picky with paint that's why I said replace the doors, but probably will repair easy.
The colour is Rio Tomato, from the hyundai range and is easy to get a hold of, no need to go and get it colour matched.
Thanks for looking

I picked up another wreck early in the piece which had a massive rear wing and had those strips on the sides. The strips were custom made, they're not the ones from the 3 piece or anything else i've seen.
I will also include the wing, which need repainting. It is truly huge, i'll get a pic so you have an idea what it looks like.
