Air Intake Options w/Standard ECU

Post by Camotec »

Hey Guys,

Today I decided that I wanted front window washers. I removed the cold air setup the previous owner had in place, I am sure it worked ok, but i wanted the washers back.

Anyways, What I would like to know is how people have made modifications for cold air with the stock ecu and front window washer bottle in place.

Thanks in advance!!
PS I have checked out a few previous posts and got a few ideas but i am a hungry boy.
Cheers

Headlight washers

Do you use your headlight washers? I am guessing no.

Why not use that bottle instead?

Hey Fuel, (Thanks)
You can't really use that bottle without a lot of friggin around due to the wiring of the headlight pump powering weirdo system. cookie and kelfy know what i mean :)
But That is to say I am sure it can be done, but surely there are people who have done somthing without switching drink bottles.

However it could be an option if i do not find a decent way to do it.

Cheers

Obvious solution, but might look a bit rangi

Use cut air box and install a new vent on the bonnet to lightly scoop air and push it down to the air box. This will also push the hot air under the bonnet away from the air intake, minimising the need for a full cold air box.

The only reason I say it would look a bit rangi, is if you have the JB vents already (3) and you'll be adding a mismatched fourth one. So I'd recommend something discrete but functional.

JA vents you mean??

Yeah I was thinking bonnet scoop but maybe I can find one of those flush ones, I dun think i would like to grind my bonnet.

If only my intake was on the other side where my battery used to be, plenty of room there.

Well JA/JB vents yeah.

It wont work at night time, thanks to mr popup lights, but Repco sell these premade ones, that are only slightly raised that I was looking at.

Definately upsets the appearance a wee bit though :S

i say drill a nice round hold in the bumper (angle grind or something) and put a bit of mesh onto it.. run a nice bit of ducting to it.
