EX GRP A starion- more pics-up date 01/02/09

Post by ukstariont3 »

:D :D
due to my widey being too rotten, the orginal plan was to re-shell it into a solid shell.

but then i was offered the ex-works grpA penti sister car, as raced buy guy consoul and later owned by peter littler- both still big names in the motorsport industrie, i thought 'why not' :D

the car was raced in the 1000 lake rallies and was being prepped to compete in the RAC rallies but it is unsure if it ever got that far.

unfortanatly, the car has a standard engine and box  in( instead of the HKS race engine and dog box ). but the rest of the car within reason is of simlar spec-

suspension; bilstien coilovers- 330lb front, 300lb rear.
rose jointed top mounts all round, rose jointed and
strenghtened front/rear lower arms.

shell; LHD, seam welded through out, multi-point saftey devices steel
cage, alloy strut brace, foam filled arches all round, roof
vents,sump/diff guards fibre glass bonnet with vents, front/rear
bumpers stripped to outer shells, perspex rear quarter windows and
hatch(-badly faded), alloy interior panels, carbon dash and floor
pans, gearbox tunnel adapted to take Gertag box, 60l bag tank in
aluminium case, bucket seats and 4 point harnesses, lamp pod with
4x hellas, non-power steering box etc.

brakes; AP adjustable bias box,
front; AP 4pots with vented/crossdrilled discs/bells
rear; AP 2pots with vented/crossdrilled discs/bells
all aeroquip hoses
fly-off hydralic handbrake.

wheels; Ralliart Dynamags- 205/50/15 all round.

drivetrain; standard gearbox/ prop, quafe 4.4 lsd, grpA drive shafts,
solid diff/gearbox mounts :o

i will be fitting my engine which is;

multipoint-4x550cc injectors, emerald ecu, 3 bar map, 63mm throttle
body, wiseco forged pistons, cometic mls headgasket, balance
shafts removed, balanced bottom end, surecam stage 3 cam
(3000rpm-6500rpm power), ported/polished head, custom ex
manifold, grpA garrett t34, tomie evo cam pulley, 3" straight
through exhaust with single back box(ex-race item ).

heres a few pics- car does need some tidying, but it will be worth :D it

Nice buy, how would you go about registering it or is it going to back off road use only?

cheers lads. :beer rofl
the car is all ready registered and just needs road tax and an MOT(road worthy test) .
i think it may need a bit of welding here and there, and general tidying as it is looking a bit neglected.

so this was raced on the 1000 lakes? which year? its not the virtainen/laine car is it? does it have any evidence of being painted black on the tail rearward of the ralliart stripes? have u got much of the history? i'd be contacting ralliart UK

I'm not sure what the state of historic rallying is like in the UK but you might want to look into restoring the car back to original groupA spec.

As a bit of a guide historic group A touring cars here in Aus are now worth roughly what they cost to build 20+ years ago.
