New Motor

Post by OLD FART »

Well it's finally about to happen .Took the stroker bottom end up to Daves (Redzone )on Friday The jb goes there on Wednesday next
Specs etc block cleaned & bored to suit 86mm Wiseco pistons,Eagle rods,ACL Race Series bearings ,2.4 crank that has been crack tested ,linished & machined to clear the squirters & mildly knife edged & held in with ARP main studs ( the crank was perfect )
, balance shafts eliminated (weights machined off the oil pump side leaving both bearings in place for stability ) new water pump , timimg & fan belts Naturally everything was balanced to race specs by Jeff at J&L Machining (I actually watched him balance the crank )
My existing head that was ported ,polished ,ccd & has 3mm larger ex valves held in by double springs along with the Rallyart copy 35-70 cam will be held in place by ARP head studs over a Cometic h/gasket
It will be driving a recoed Cyroed gearbox via a Jim Berry raceclutch solid centre carbon button plate clamped by a 2300lb preasure plate
The old motor made 282 hp atw what do you think this one will make after it is run in & dynotuned ?????????
I've had mine since 03 07 92

Rad, should be around 320-350HP I think, yr turbo may limit but as the RPM isn't going to be that high I think U will get away with it. :beer

Well if you are using the same head, cam, turbo and exhaust etc at the same pressure then maximum power probably wont go up by much. I hope I'm wrong though :). Naturally power at lower revs will be up though.

Correct. Though HP per cubic inch will be down so reliability will be better also.

Well after it's been run in & tuned it will definately be interesting to see the result as we will be comparing"apples with apples". I don't think this kind of testing / development has been done before ( correct me if i'm wrong ) and I guess the final power will be goverened by the amount of air the head can flow .
thanks for all your replies & I ( someone who can ) will post the dyno sheet . I am hoping to get app 330 hp atw but with more punch out of corners
I have another cam that has been specially ground to suit the stroker so if we don't get enough grunt then it will be installed & retuned but didn't want to install it straight away as there would not have been a direct comparison of any improvment by simply ??? changeing the stroke / capacity to 2330cc

PS Car goes to Redzones tomorrow Dave hope you've polished up the spanners and are raring to go :D :beer
