More head questions

Post by Benny_Mac »

Hey all,
Just another few questions for ya's, i did try and search but it came up with pages and pages of stuff that really wasn't what i was looking for. Any help would be great thanks.

1. Will a vrs kit of say an L300 or an other 4g63 engine fit, i got quoted $160 for a starion one and think thats a bit steep.

2. If i get an L300 head, can i still use my cam and rocker gear and will everything still bolt up.

Thanks in advance

Which L300 head specifically?

There are two main types in Australia - The 2.0L 4g63 and the 2.4L 4g64.

AFAIK the VRS for a 4g63 L300 will be the same. And the cam, etc will all fit.

Different story with the 4g64 L300 stuff. The VRS is virtually the same except the head gasket is different.
The 2.4L (from about 1990 and was EFI) head can also be used and your cam, etc would fit.

yeah the 63 L300 etc set will fit, but they dont have all the turbo gaskets and associated parts, just a normal vrs. get a permaseal graphlex one too, not an acl or whatever. they're way better.
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

Can you remember what brand of head gasket you used Dave on the 64 head for the orange car?
