Starion number 2 (With dyno results)

Post by www.18u »

As most of you figured out i purchased Jeffs old JB.I picked the car up yesterday but unfortunately didn't have any time to play with it until this afternoon and once i was home from work the sun was going down so i didn't really do much apart from put my old enkeis on that i used to have on my scorpion. The good news was that the car started first go after not being driven for 7 months and seems to be running sweet.I am actually undecided on what i am going to do with the car but i have a few ideas and would like peoples opinion.

Strip the car and put the exhaust, lsd, motor and box and all the jb stuff into the JA giving me time to fully sort out all the related issues with going twincam.

Or

Put the coilovers into the jb and get it tuned for 14psi and have a crack at drifting at oran park next meet.

Or

Register it and get it tuned for 14psi then give it a quick coat of paint and sell it.

In the meantime im just going to keep tidying stuff untill i sort out what im doing.

Ok i have decided to have a crack at drifting at the next off street meet at Oran park on Nov 30th.I have just over a month to get everything right and hopefully be able to keep up with everyone else. This will be my first time drifting so i wouldn't expect anything crazy but i will do my best to represent the mitsu community as i don't believe a mitsu has ever drifted at oran park  In the next few weeks i am planing to do the follwing to give the car its best chance at drifting.

1. Fit the coilovers and maybe adjustable strut tops if i can afford them.
2. Replace the steering coupler.
3. Re fit the power steering
4. Get the car tuned for 14 psi
5. Give it a bit of a tart up so it looks the part

I have already replaced the water pump, rocker cover, harmonic balancer, alternator and the belts so its a1 for the dyno but im hoping that the Austarion community can help me source the steering parts so i can go drifting.

Get some videos of your drifting. I'm super keen to see if a starion can cut it with the nissan and toyota boys in the drift arena!

Just a quick update i managed to get the front coilovers out of the JA and into the JB but it wasn't easy in the dark and on your own :x Anyway i thought i would post up a few pics and tomorrow i will tackle the rear.
I also payed the boys at Meek a visit yesterday and they gave me some stickers so i thought i should get into the spirit of drifting and start a shopping list on the side doors (hint REDZONE,GTPUMPSand ZOOM Tuning)

Well after a week of solid rain and not being able to do anything to the car i made it to the dyno be it slightly unprepared.I just want to say a big thank you to Adam for Just Engine Managment for not only tuning the car but fixing alot of problems that i just havn't had time to do or had absolutley no idea about. We found out that the thermo fans were not connected to the haltech and that the haltech boost controller was not correctly plumbed or setup. After changing the plugs and the tune the car now makes 123.9kw on 14psi :D This might not sound like a huge number but the car is designed with torque in mind for drifting and i am more than happy with the result considering it has a standard bottom end and camshaft. After all of Adams hard work (which finished at 12:30pm :yawn thats dedicated ) the car revs alot cleaner and feels 100% stronger and drifts in second gear no problems at all :D

I have a small video of it on the dyno during tuning if anyone wants to host it?
