Towbar help

Post by MisJiF »

I've got this towbar which is supposed to be for a Starion and I'm trying to fit it. It bolts onto the rear towing hooks and has a trailing arm which bolts into the chassis above the exhaust pipe. I can see how it should fit but it just won't fit since the gap between the towing hooks is not wide enough for it.

I'm wondering if my towing hooks are wrong or if the towbar is for a later model Starion.
My tow hooks are both the same. They don't hang straight down but have a small kink in them which makes the tow hole offset a bit. Both are offset the same way - to the right. Is this correct or should each side be offset differently? Looking from the back of the car, it's like this:

Code: Select all

   | |

If anyone has a towbar that fits the same, please let me know so I can ask some questions. A picture would be good too :)

Thanks,

Mike.

With the 'normal' towbar for a Starion, the tow hooks have to be removed - the towbar mounts in the same place as the tow hooks. The mount points for the towbar should match the mount points for the tow hooks.
