Wide Body Starions in Australia? Kit available?

Post by oped »

Hello guys (and girls)

I noticed in the member pictures section that there was a few wide body starion's there...
Just a question.. is that a Starion from the US or something or were they produced here.... Or is it a kit you can get to convert a narrow body to wide body.

Sorry if this question is really ignorent but I am new to Starion's and wish to further my knowledge of them as I am now a new owner of one.

Thanks guys

Widebodys were available in Japan, US and the UK. I believe there are a few in NZ too. Most, if not all widebodys currently in Aus are from Japan. This would be due to the RHD compatibility. I know of one here from the UK, I believe someone on the forum was doing a US Widebody\narrowbody swap with an American member.

No, there are no currently available kits to convert to widebody, however LxS in Sydney went to the trouble of importing all the panels and attaching them to her JA. From what I heard about that project, she would have found it easier and probably cheaper to just buy a widebody!

Hope this helps!

The widebody was available in Germany as well. There are two US widebodies in OZ converted to RHD, the rest are from the Japan (a few from the UK).
Mitsubishi Australia never imported widebodies here for reason's unknown.

While a conversion is possible it's not easy, major job.

If any one is after a good deal on a widebody I know of a 5speed manual black one in japan which landed in australia and certified is for sale for $9500. I already have one and would buy this myself but have no need or room for another toy.

I will have to ask my mum as she was the one who was about to buy it but in the end decided against it. Originally she thought the seller was trying to sell a car which was not his own and rip them off. However after a Brisbane importer checked it out for her it seems all okay. Infact the importer may now purchase it himself, it may still be available. This is the sellers email address: ex_manten@msn.com He was willing to sell the car for $3800 AUD
