If I don't ask

Post by starrzzy »

If i don't ask i will not know ..

Box on firewall above the brake booster, with Vacum hose and plug ..

what does it do ??

Am still having problems with car (JA) when cold ..runs rich, will not idle, keeps stalling, until it warms up ..

Ended up stuffing up starter motor, from having to keep on restarting ..
( was probley on way out ) New one now, with 3 yr warranty .

Ended up tonight unplugging this box ... the car idles....plugged back in and it stalled ...

Can it be repaired or replacements avail ??

Also does any body also have Resitance Readings for Engine coolant s/w

Thanks

That's the MAP sensor! If she's stuffed, she'll give you all sorts of headaches! Source another from a wreck! Allegedly the cordi one is the same!? Don't quote me on that though! :D

The MAP sensor can be repaired under some circumstances. First, try pulling it apart and replacing the small o-rings. You will need to pry up the metal tabs which hold the pressure sensor inlet filter in place (on the inside of the case, where the metal tube which the vac line connects to) - there's a very small o-ring there, plus another on the round piece of plastic with the filter.

The water temp sensor, from memory, is around 200-300 ohms when hot, and around 3500 ohms when cold.

You don't need the factory one.. unless you want to use it solely to drive the factory boost gauge.
