Quick question

Post by Cordzboy »

Hey guys,

Finally got the head replaced on the JA over the weekend, and it's running fine at idle. However, it feels like it's lacking a bit of power, even just driving it gently.

Compression is fine, timing is fine, I didn't touch anything on the inlet manifold. The x-over pipe had silicone around it inside the compressor housing - is this a common fault? I was thinking that a boost leak might be causing the problem.

Also, the water feed line to the turbo was blocked - completely. However, it looked like it had been that way for a while, and it never gets driven that hard. Could the turbo be that fudged?

Other than that, any suggestions?
Thanks for your help,
Adrian

Check the cam timing, I've put a cam in one tooth out before (not in a starion). It runs ok but just doesn't seem to have much power.

I'm almost positive the cam timing is right - I marked every gear and the belt on it with liquid paper, and all the marks went back on beautifully.

I'll check it again to make sure, but any other suggestions?
