The Usual Starion Story

Post by Darkelf »

So it's the end of the working year and to celebrate it is a nice idea to go out for a couple of beers and a nice meal, as you do, except the Starion has other ideas.......

I wash it and wax it, vacuum it out and give it a thorough clean. I even tell her she looks beautiful and I really quite like her even though she has been a little temperamental recently.

So off we go to the pub in the clean shiny Staz, we chat about our day looking forward to dinner and beers by the sea. I open the window and the breeze wafts in.....

We get a prime parking spot right outside the pub and the gods are indeed smiling upon our evening!!! And then...... the window won't do up! What the? Push button a little harder, nope nothing, dead as doornail. (fark!) Well we can't leave the car outside the pub with the window down so very disappointed we head for home! (Strained silence on the way home!)

We get home and the window is still down and dead, so we pull the trim off. The motor appears seized. Crap I think, I have just had the air con regassed we have to go to Canberra Sunday. Where the hell will I get a motor from?

So with much of an "arsey Starions" and a "Bloody Cookie" I pull the motor assembly out and pull the cogs apart, with a view to pushing the glass back up and at least shutting the window. No chance of that happening. The window keeps sliding back down. "Arse" I say.

I clean everything out and try the motor again...

It works but only down, hmmmm (switch??) then it works up. Yep switch! Bugger! We've got one of those, but it's buried at the back of the shed and covered in boxes. "Arse" I say and stomp off to the shed to find the offending item.

We swap over the switch unit and yep the staz has struck again, I look down and there's the door and window assembly all over the garage floor in pieces and the switch works beautifully! "Arse" I say

So covered in grease we put the motor, arm and door all back together (after cleaning and re-greasing) and she looks as good as knew and as I close the garage door I swear I can hear the sound of mocking laughter.....
