WTB G63B 2.0

Post by willmoodom »

How's everyone? Name's Will and I'm new to the site. I'm looking to buy and import a G63B Long block or Short block. Used and unbuilt ofcourse. Looking to save money. Running condition less important than the integrity of the block itself, such as no cracks or fractures. Believing that these engines came stock in AUSY spec cars, I'm assuming that the block or bottom end will fit US spec cars without trouble excluding engine mounts. If I'm incorrect, please some one set me straight. Sorry, I own a 1989 Wide Body Chrysler Conquest (Starion), G54B/5speed. Just to reiterate my earlier request, I'm not looking for anything built up to any degree. What I have to offer would be an insult. So if anyone have a G63B needing a serious rebuild and wanting to get rid of it, Drop me a line. Does anyone have any links to savage yards or used parts sites out that way, please send them. Thanks

Will,
yes it will fit no problem. However not sure if the actual engine mount bracket itself on the 4G63 SOHC is exactly the same? ie. you may not be able to use the G54B ones?
Someone else may know this. Not many people running 2.6's here.

Thanks for the reply! Exact fit is good to know. I figured the mounts would not work, but that is nothing to worry about. You guys should be glad not to have the 2.6 Dont get me wrong, The G54B is a tough engine, but in it's present form such as TBI, It's unreliable in high horse power operations. Unless you invest about $7000 or more into it. Not much after market support for it neither. All I need is the block(bare if nothing more is available) and Intake/exaust manifolds. The junkyards here, I could get a entire engine with everything (untested) for a $100. Whats the going rate out that way?

If you could get a complete untested (4g63) engine over there for $100USD, you wouldn't want to bother with one from here as shipping is very expensive. the 4g63 in both SOHC and DOHC form will cost $700+USD over here. Then add shipping.

If $700 is for a engine tested and warrantied then it's no different then here. The $100 price I spoke of is from a "you pick it/you pull it" type salvage yard. There is no warranty from these yards. Also, the g63's over here are for front wheel drive cars such as the eclipse, galant, ect. I want one built for the Starion. Plug and Play!!

Just saw a complete running dash with extras go for $415 and you say a non running g63 with no computer, head or other stuff would cost me $700 +S/H? Are we misunderstanding each other. All I need is a bare block(No Cracks/Rods/Pistons), Intake manifold and Exuast manifold. This will cost me $700US ? Anyone got close ties with members of "Starquest club" in the states?

I'm talking about complete running engines. Of course there will be price differences from seller to seller and condition of engine. A usable 4g63B Starion block shouldn't cost you more than $150USD, but it's the shipping that will hurt the pockets most.

Will, I have had them both...go the dash for $400 odd bucks with all the extras you found, its a nice engine. Besides, we do have quite a few 4g63 engines here but everyone wants them so finding one for $100 us would be like trying to get coke thats uncut...

Thanks for the replys. Even the coke laugh! You guys now no what I'm looking for. Not the 4g64 narrow blocks. I can get them all day. What I want is the g63B out of the starions aka ja aka gsr. So many names for this unique car. Has anyone shipped to the USA before? How much are we talking isn shipping this block, intake and exuast manifolds?? If it's LESS than the price of a fully running engine as someone quoted a $700 price tag, than a price of 2,3,0r $400 I would be willing to pay. Don't get me wrong! I'm not well off, Far from it. But it will cost me upwards of $7000 to build the G54B up starting with custom intake manifold and exuast manifold, engine management computer (which by itself will run about $2000US), ported head, cam upgrade, injectors/throttle body, and other needed stuff. Lets not forget the basic rebuild of the block to handle that new power. I can build the 63b to put out more for less than half of what the G54B needs. The after market for that engine in the US is saturated with stuff and the engine is known to handle- if done right- 350 to 400 HP on stock internals, computer, and fuel system. After all I said here, do you see why i am willing to pay a 2-$400 shipping charge for those items? If I could get a entire engine with computer and accessories for 2 or $300 and have it shipped for less than $400 I would do that. But I'm trying to keep the price range within limits and lessen the charge of shipping by getting only the bare block, intake and exuast manifolds.

So a lot of cats want the 4G63 engine and I want the G63B. You guys have access to what I want and I have access to what you want. If anyone want to hook up and do a swap let me know. whether it's a whole engine or the pieces I request.

If you are doing the DOHC swap and want the wider 4g63b Starion block to bolt into your car, then you only need the bare block. You wouldn't need the manifolds or any internals.
