How do you tell a N/A SOHC head from a turbo one?

Post by MrBishi »

Recently swapped a jet valve starion head for non-jv one, but I don't know how to tell if it is a Starion head or not? Is there any difference between a starion, cordia, or 4G64 head?

Usually the bore of the cordia heads are smaller in diameter.

As far as I know , the starion heads used jet valves , the L300's did not. The 4g62 heads have a different sized combustion chambers , and possibly different sized ports. 4G64 heads are the same as 4g63.

A turbo head should have a 'T' cast into the back of it.

Did the UK starions have them? Pardon my ignorance, but what exactly are they, and why are they a good/bad thing to have?

My Jap spec 4G54 did. Does anyone have that link that tells you how to disable them without taking them out?
