I have a question. In the photo of your surge tank http://www.pbase.com/image/25238489 you have a pump hooked up to the top line (I assume it's a pump, I see wires around it) Is that a lift pump and you have a main pump under the car somewhere? Or is it your main pump?

Surge tank
Was just about to ask the same question. Then again that Carter fuel pump is only good for 6-7 lb so there bust be a biggy under the floor.
lift pump
the pump you can see is a AC Deloc Racing lift pump for big carby cars.
it pumps 4.8 ltrs per minute
There is a Bosch 910 K-Jectronic pressure pump under the floor in the original pump place. this Bosch pump flows 2.8 ltrs per minute at 60PSI to the injector rail.
I initally used the standard starion pump as the lift pump to feed the surge tank. But the the fuel in the surge tank was getting very hot, as the return line from the injectors was feeding back to the surge tank. the pressure pump was flowing at 60psi, thats faster than the standard starion pump could flow with no resistance. hence the fuel was circulating thru the injector rail so many times it was heating it up
so i plumbed the injector return line back to the main tank. that is why you see blank in one of the pipes of the surge tank.
If you plump the injector return line to the main tank, you MUST have a lift pump that easily out flows the presure pump. if you dont, the first time you give it full load the engine will lean out very quickly.
I hope i haven't confussed to many people :D
I dont know the state laws, but if you look at the back of the rear seat you can see its been panneled up with alloy sheeting, so i feel a little more comfortable.
