strange rpm-dependant noise

hi all,

have just thrown the starion back together, and now at a certain rpm the engine makes a strange noise. if i go above the rpm, the noise disappears.

i cant help but think it might be balance shafts?

just in case this happens to someone else, check the tension of your belts. my timing belt was done up a bit too tight...after loosening it up the noise has disappeared - hopefully havent done any damage.
