For the technical guro's

Post by djalpha »

ja starion with t3 from vl, vl fuel pump, malpassi reg, fuel cut defender and regraphed dizzy. Vehicle will free rev at idle, but at 3000 revs and coming on boost will missfire and splutter about. before malpassi was installed vehicle had 6 bar fuel presure at the injectors. (possible damage to injectors). fuel pressure reg has been checked. boost cut sensors/fuel cut defender has been checked. Spark plugs are black from fuel soak. problem is intermitant. Iam thinking possibly a faulty air flow meter or vacuum advance, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, have been wondering why mine does that.

Stops once its warmed up though.

1 year car ownership, 20 minutes of that guage working.

Put a wideband on it and check the mixture. You have to measure something otherwise you have no idea what's going on.
You guy's have to start using an aftermarket ECU and stop wasting your time with the standard system.

Also have a look at timing when you increase the revvs with a timing light. but yeh it sounds more fuel / MAP related. the only real way to tell is to swap it out with another one to see if it makes a difference.

Something to check...

The TPS. (Throttle Position Sensor)

If faulty, will screw up your acceleration enrichment... Will cause similar symptoms to what you describe.

Id love to, just can't afford it :(

To be honest, I think the first upgrade anyone should do is an aftermarket ECU. Once you have that, you can install a real air intake, make use of a larger exhaust, run a decent injection system, do anything. Factory elecs are so amazing limiting.
