Starion carpet.......

Post by Noddy »

OK so my wife wants some new carpet for the Starion - eBay has them at $140 plus $25 postage and it seems there is loop or plush.

Who has bought from them? - are they good? are they the only option?

Who has bought loop or plush? - which is better?

Also which colour co-incides with the Burgundy interior as it looks more the red than the burgundy...... :?

Thanks for your help :beer

When i swapped the interiors over in my JA i bought from Knox Auto carpet. Cost me $165 and i got black. Fits great, just have to trim the edges to fit the car.

They have a website showing all colours and finishes as well.
-JA Starion with JD bits , Forged engine, Heaps of mods (parked up)
-BFII XR6 Turbo Ute , Here comes 400hp for 2k :p
-77 Mazda 323 drag car. 13bt rotary project.

Yes i have too many toys.

You have to cut all the holes for gearstick seat belts etc too.

I got this for the yellow JA. I personally didn't like it.

It was molded well, but it comes in two pieces. And you have to trim/cut all holes for gear shifter, all the holes for seats, and everything else that bolts down. I also had to cut out for the stereo section. But its still heaps cheaper then getting it done by a company.

I think the only reason I hated it was because it was in two pieces not a single piece like the stock ones.

Plush tends to wear faster, also can look like it has 6 different shades depending on how the pile is sitting, loop will usually last longer but is a pain in the ass to get sand and small rocks out of when cleaning.
I prefer loop.
The join in a 2 piece carpet should be mostly hidden under the seats so only really visible between the doors and seats.

If you really want single piece there is this, pricey I know but also most likely a better quality item.
Rubber insert on the wrong side obviously but youmay be able to have them change that for you, I found a place over there that was willing to do a RHD dash mat for me at no extra cost.

That US one is exxy - about $400 landed?....... I think the 2 peice would be OK. As she is using the car everyday at the moment the kids are having an impact, buts its more the edge is out on the door sill and its too short to be able to fix (I have done it a few times and it pulls out).
....... I'll ask for a couple of samples of the red and burgundy and think about the plush/loop scenario.

Thanks for the input guys :beer
