Narrow to widebody??

A184A has the G63B 12V DASH engine in the widey

The JE was not supposed to have been , but the JM was way behind schedule and many people had been waiting for it to come out . The plan worked and with a big marketing push they sold fairly quickly . I'm told they still ran out before the widey came out , but it had served the purpose . Ironically it was probably the best Starion made , particularly the DASH powered ones .

As a footnote , it appears that we were supposed to have gotten some of them here in Australia but the pin was pulled on the Starion all together before they got here :( ( although a couple did physically get here )

We seem to have two JE models in NZ, flat mounted to upright mounted intercooler and different spoilers being the biggest differences. Would that be right?

Here is a link though, mines the red one with wide body wheels. There is two others there also, Fastfrd's with the flat bonnet and the dark grey one, both with the dash motor.

a wide body conversion has been done in sheet metal before. If you were serious about doing this(which it doesnt sound like you are any more) i would go a different route. I would bolt the front fenders on and i would make the rears just like the group b rally car in 84.

the widebody idea was under way but since the chassis was a narrow they made the carbon flares in the rear. of course this car was almost all carbon fiber.

i actually played around with making my own flares at one point but it just didnt look right on the car.

this was just done in microsoft paint brush but its what i was going for.

the flares are off a pantera gt5:)

To be perfect honest I think that a narrow body with the right wheels and stance can look just as good if not better in some cases then the widebody....
If I want wider guards I'll get a widey... but i'm happy with the narrow body :)

i have to agree... the wideys can look awkward, especially when bog stndard... would still love one tho...

Specially lowered on nice wheels....

Actually I think the flat nosed rally starions are the coolest.. and I would love to get another starion to attempt this on! No sarcasm either.

don't the narrow body starions handle better anyway? i think i read or heard somehwere that it's becaue of the suspension geometry..?

plus they're 50+ kgs lighter..

so the only thing the wideys are up one on is looks

i think the flattys have a little better number for drag, .32 vs .34(and the wideys only got .34 with the aero wheel covers on). The flattys are lighter for sure and the suspension up front is a little narrower and i think softer which gives you better feel for when the back end will break loose.

looking back at the old race cars that were lowered they definitely have a place in my heart:) LOL
