Wheel problem!

Yes there would be more load on the wheel - if you increased the overall track of the car.

The problem that I have found that makes this a sticky situation is, there is virtually no wheels that are available for a 4 x 114.3 and rwd offset.

I have two set of hubs a four stud and a five stud, but even the five stud is damn near impossible to find something for.

Kind of hard to find a solution except for Simmons

Do you get R31 Skylines over there? The wheels are same stud pattern and similar offset. Mid 80's Nissan 4 studs (240Z, 260Z, etc) are also 4x114.3.

older toyotas too have the same offset, pre 86 rwd celica's, supra's..'
I have a feeling a series 3 rx7 is the same stud pattern, not sure of offset...

R31 skylines yes - wheels no
260z datsuns etc should be a 0 offset - I also have a Datsun 1600 and this has the same setup as a z car
RX7's should be 108mm PCD or 110PCD until the series 4 which was 114.3 but fwd offset
Old toyotas were the same as rx7s until about the KE25 series but then again it is still a rear drive offset wheel.

The availablity of RWD wheels is limited to around 4 styles. the only one that looks any good is the Performance Challenger but that is only a 15inch - looks like a Bathurst Globe with studs around the outside.

If the wheels are available then most wheel shops here are idois or cant be bothered trying. I was involved in the wheel industry for a while and didnt find bugger all that was rwd. Intersetingly enough early BMW's have a 20mm offset but a 110mm PCD. Not impossible but again not straight foprward.

Any way back to Chunheads dilema - You need to check with the certifiers and engineers and then make your decision based on what is legal and safe.

Ill put my hand up and say that hub extensions (not spacers) are not an ideal situation but from the advice I have had, they are safe only if done properly.

Got new tyres yesterday, and asked about suitable wheels... only suggestions were Speedywheels Hyperfang2, and Sirroco 2! The Hyperfang wheels are pretty much identical to the ones I have!

in actual fact theres quite a few different wheels for the starion, it just seems most tyre places are too lazy to look, BSA have around 3 styles that fit, Buddy club also have the P1, and Im betting a few others.. its all just a case of really hunting around, best bet is to ring mag specialists as opposed to tyre shops, I know when i was hunting for rims I quickly found around 8 styles to choose from in a reasonable price range, and for sure if u wanted to spend more u could get more options.

Say you want them for an R31 Skyline or an old Toyota. They know what they are.
