Evo 5-6 Brembo calipers & Starion 16" SHP rims?

I've done some measurements on my widey with the 7J et 18 wheels at the fronts. (unfortunatly the SHP wheels are really hard to find )

anyway near the hub I've got 50mm between the rim & brake disc
and this gap increases to about 55 mm at the outside of the disc

I don't know how much you need for a brembo.. But since you already got those you can measure that yourself

Hi Xentro, sorry for the late reply.

I'm making a big "guesstimate" here (and I'll have to risk $$$ to prove it) but from what I've read so far...
MAYBE I can use 8J-16 / ET +18 SHP rims with spacers to reduce positive offset
to less than "12" in order to get adequate clearance for the 4-spot front Brembos.

I'll have to put the Brembo Upgrade and "Starion SHP rim buy" on hold for the time being.
I'm in the middle of going broke buying tools & equipment for this project...

"Opportunity's knocking" and I don't want to lose this one.
Let me score this Car-O-Liner frame machine first, then I'll get back to the brakes. :)

Well maybe i'll beat you to it because this has been on my list for some time.

I was thinking of using a couple of modified (re drilled to 5x 114,3) bmw 540 discs and either brembo's or the 3000gt calipers that i already have..

I prefer the brembo's because of the wider choice in pads.

With the amount of work ahead of me, I hope you find the answer before I get around to the Lancer's brakes.

IMHO the best feature of my Evo 6 RS2 is the 2.2-turn RS steering rack... followed VERY closely by the non-ABS Brembo brakes.
I find these even more impressive than the acceleration (even with optional 4.875:1 gearing) or top speed.

The Brembos are quite simply the BEST BALANCED... most FADE-FREE... most RELIABLE brakes that I've ever used...

As AutoCar mag said: 0-60 mph = 4.4 sec... 60-0 mph = 2.5 sec... 'Nuff said!

I have Brembos waiting for my Lancer GTX already so it would be great if you used them instead on your Starion (identical front suspension)
with the Starion's SHP 8J-16" ET +18 rims plus spacers to reduce the offset to less than ET +12mm.

Brembo pads... I'll definately be using Carbotech pads for AutoX.

I've been advised by "The Tyrant" (great guy) to use these in the following sizes:

Part numbers for the pad shapes you need are:
Front - CT1001A
Rear - CT961

Compounds suggested by their web page are:
Street Use & AutoX (mild mods) - AX6
AutoX/Time Attack (serious mods) - XP8

With all that research already done for my two Evo 6 projects (Street/AutoX... & AutoX/Time Attack);
I want the same brakes for the Lancer GTX... using "1521" or "AX6" pads.
