I heard the L300 is an easy manifold conversion if you aren't going DOHC. Tho, I know some of the manifold's you need to customise the throttle body so that the Throttle cable will work. Is this type pretty much Bolt-on compared to the others?thrash wrote:http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/270922316049 ... 500wt_1413

Yes the 300 manifold is the easiest to use BUT the Gallant/Hyundai is far better.Bruzman wrote:I heard the L300 is an easy manifold conversion if you aren't going DOHC. FYI/FWIW I had a custom plenum and runners bolted to the bottom 1/2 of a 300.
So ultimately it's up to you as to how far you want to go.
I've had mine since 03 07 92

the L300 manifold is easier to fit, but not as good at making a lot of power as the sonata manifold is, due to the plenum being much smaller.
the challenges with the sonata manifold are:
- you will need to block off the throttle body side of it and cut the opposite side and attach the throttle body there, so that it faces forward on a north-south mounted motor, as in our starions and any rear drive mitsu.
- You will need a longer pipe from the intake to the radiator, and this pipe full of hot water will tend to heat up your intake charge a tad perhaps.
If I remember correctly, the L300 will be good for about 150-160ish rwkw before it becomes a choking point, where the sonata manifold and net you maybe about 20rwkw more.
To overcome this, the l300 can be installed to complete the mpi upgrade, and then modded with a larger plenum later down the track - this is better than the sonata manifold - perhaps the best MPI setup, as you can make the plenum larger for more power, and the water piping is closer to the radiator top hose
