balance shaft belt is toothed yes so its not gonna be that, unless its a bearing in the idler/tensioner pulley. bosch belts are known to stretch, does it have them on it?

i can get seatblets for starions over here brand new.
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

Can get seatbelts for a staz brand new here also, repco does them, swing me a pm and i'll sort you a deal.

Think the part numbers were 6090 and 12090 or something like that, they mount on a hell of an angle in those doors.

cheers people

wow great feedback

i love this forum waay more than the mazda site! They are all know it alls that give you major hassles if you make a bit of a dickweed of yourself [ whihc ok , just a warning..i tend to do sometimes]

anyway heaps of people seem to have spare tail lights which is cools but i actaully do do ! Off my b.f's old starionj from 3 years back, sold it but the guy didnt get some of the parts that were suppposes to come with it ! oops
so have spare tail lights but the ones the car comes with are tinted which is quite a coollook so was hoping will be able to do qick fix for wof somehow

hnmmm that noise is a worry?! No definate agreement on what it could be? thats cool will eventually just minimise things

lol yeah thought the cold morning, stalling thing was just a starion thing so will just have to drive her very gently and easily in mornings, make sure i keep her revving when sittin at light/intersections etc

Hey forgot to mention it even comes with the Starion factory K AND N AIR FILTER !

O AND YES ...im ready ! Lol knew pretty much what i was getting myself in for ! I couldnt pass up on this deal after experiencing the drive of my mans old starion ...you cant beat that feeling of knowing you are driving along with a strong and amazingly engineered chassis that just wants it, takes it..and more hehe

Tam, we had a racing driver over here a few years ago ( retired ) by the name of Kevin Bartlett ( 2 t's ? ) Anyway, everyday on my way to work I used to drive past and old starion sitting in this old guys driveway. the guy was cripple and too old to drive so it just sat there. One day I left a note in his letterbox asking if he wanted to sell it. He did and told me that Kevin Bartlett was a mate of his and he used to do all the servicing on it. He gave me his number and asked me to call him if I had any questions about the car. I called KB and he told me that he thought the starion was one of the best engineered, best handling chassis of all time. High praise from a racer of his calibre. Anyway just my 2c worth.

you can see my bright orange gtx just sitting there in the carport where its been for last few months waiting for a new engine [ big end bearings shot ]
I had the money to either fix the mazda or buy the Starion . was on hell of a hard decision as i love my mazda and poured a lot of money and time and effort into it , plan is to either sell as is to get money for doing up Starion or learn how to do an engine rebuild and make a mighty strong engine.
I dont think i can bring myself to sell it. Its alot more 'modern' looking and pretty razzy to look at.
Its also alot more practical as a daily driver around to town for 2kids.
safer car to drive with kids as 4wd instead of rearwheel .
Nicer interior
Bigger turbo and ALOT quicker..very quick car , pulled out the standard turbo and has bigger one in running 12psi
Still nice to drive and handles well

So you can see why it was a hard call ..very very happy that i got the Starion though ! I Just wish i didnt have to choose and could afford 2 cars!!
