Frankenstein ????

Post by OLD FART »

I'M not going to make any wild claims about how many hundreds of horsepower or when it will happen but have started to get it together The proposed specs are as follows

Parts I have already
1 4G63 block bored to 86 mm & modified to allow clearence for rods
2 Express 2.4 crank crack tested, checked for straightness & linished
3 Eagle rods
4 ACL race bearings
5 Sonata 2.4 head being ported ,flowed & ccd atm
6 680cc injectors
7 GT30R Turbo

Still to get
1 Custom 8-1 CR pistons
2 Lightweight flywheel
3 cush button clutch
4 Balance shafts removed
5 Machineing & assembly by JL Machining
6 dyno tuning by the guru -Graphic Skills Racing
7 Cam

So how do you all think it will go HP & 1/4 Mile ??? Hot laps 4 the closest :D :D

Try Nicks performance clutches as you can do all you need to with a standard flywheel without having to purchase a Fidanza alternative (this is what I have been advised and will be trying myself). Just one more point though: why waste your time with a SOHC :D go the whole hog and twin cam it!!

I like knocking off t/c rexes m3's& v8,s & seeing the look on their faces when they find out it,s only a single cam 8 valve :D
Custom light steel fly wheel will be fitted

i'm guessing 330hp at the wheels if u get it angry, and say...... 12.3 sec quarters if u can 60 foot in the 1.8 region :D
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

Folks will always think a sohc is a waste of time.... until they see a well matched combo running decent boost.
I'm just as curious about the "low boost ceiling" as I am about why folks don't use the 2.4L block.

Frankenstein output should be interesting... particularly the torque.
Most of your dyno printouts don't show the all important ft-lbs torque vs rpm tho. A pk hp number pretty useless imo
Cam quality, choice, dial-in could make or break.
Car should pull really strong

OF, I hear you loud and clear.

A very nice combination.

Go for it lad! (makes you feel just a bit younger I hope!) :D
Reduce fuel costs by 15-20% & cut emissions by 1/3rd...
Increase engine performance & prolong engine life...

DIDN,T USE 2.4 BLOCK AS IT WOULD HAVE NEEDED A "BLUE PLATE " OR ENGINEERS APPROVAL saved $250 .00
Simple matter to get the rpm on dyno sheet instead of kph/mph

You're using the 6 bolt version of the crank, the 7 bolt doesn't fit. Right?
