ADJ COIL OVERS BUILT. SORRY TO HIGH JACK. NARROW BODY

Post by Mick »

hey guys

just had proper coil overs made for narrow body.

really sorry to high jack other guys with this but ive just had mine built.
i'm only posting this to possibly save the other posters on this all the r&d money, not to tread on anyones toes.

full damper and height adj. with a base height setting which is pretty low... with the option to wind about 2" either way.

i can get everyone the specs i used if its too much hassle to post your struts down to me, i'm not real fussed but i dont want to see anyone get fucked over like i did trying to get proper coil overs.

pics in next couple of days.

if anyone has any questions my no. is 0437900210

cheers
mick

Specs & details would be very welcome.

I'm still after a good set, and if i can get them made locally that would seriously save on money.

jas, with a set of standard struts posted to me you're looking at about $3500 but the builder hasnt confirmed that.
he's been building suspension for full tube chassis race cars and stuff for years and has been about 3 months trialling and erroring with mine.

xentro i'll try my best to get all this out of him.

holy shit! i hope they're good man. incar phil's DMS (drummond) coil overs cost him $4000..

u will need to halve the price of that for it to be an attractive proposition to people on here, as thats about par for the course for any suspension mob to build them. not trying to be an ass, just being realistic..
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

I spoke with the guys from Moorooka Fulcrum at the Jamboree today and they said a modified set of fully adjustable Tein coil overs for $1200 a pair - sounds about right but just don't know what quality those things are.

Thats such a misinformed statement, tein have been involved in motorsports for the past two decades so they neither cheap nor nasty. For the price you stated groupa, im assuming they are the superstreet model. They're entry level coil-overs with pillowball mounts and 16 levels of dampening (but compression and rebound arent independant). Also if you go with fulcrum being offical distributors of tein, they actually revalve the coil-overs to suit road conditions in australia. The only thing is when dealing with fulcrum make sure you get everything in writing before you go ahead with the job.

I don't plan on using Fulcrum. I believe they are a 'K-MART' type operation. I would rather deal with a non-franchise expert who has real experience and is not getting a kick back for selling a brand.

nah just wondering how the hell ur gonna adapt them to the starion suspension design.. pin and eyelet design on rears looks like it'd be more at home on a scorpion or something, macpherson style front will need S13 uprights or something similar?

search DDphil's coil over set up to see a well done narrowbody coil over conversion, or look at the link i posted to the US site group buy thread for some good ideas on how to adapt coil overs.

i'd be looking at JZA70 supra rears to adapt to the rear, not sure about front, just find the longest inverted coil over u can and make it fit!
