Non functioning Boost Controller
Hey,
I just picked up a JA to use as a daily driver and decided to fit a boost controller today.
I grabbed a $100 one from autobarn and fitted it....took it for a drive and still only 7 psi...thought i must have plumbed it backwards so i swapped it around but still nothing.
I did a search on B.Controllers and found a turbosmart diagram and mine was plumbed exacltly the same.....any ideas as to why its not working???
Thanks

What brand is the one you got?
Some of them need to be wound out quite a lot before they start to come effective

yeah try and swap it for a GFB one if u can, they seem to be the best of the cheapies, the turbosmart seem to spike really easily (unless u modify em like i do)
Fibreglass airdams $370, fibreglass front bumpers $260, reco drag links $165, alloy radiators $925 (unpolished), h/l switch rebuilds $125, all plus freight.

ok update...i borrowed a GFB controller and plumbed it up...still no joy.
Also now the car will not make full boost, it goes up to around 4 psi, and seems to spike sometimes....i was thinkin maybe a leak in I/C piping but then I thought bout possibly a partially stuck open wastegate?
anyone with prior experience?
Im guessing that if the wastegate isnt shuting properly it would also be the reason why the boost controllers wouldnt work...

Al- Thanks, i'll try that.. :) In regards to the low booosting problem, do you have any ideas on that?
S. Turbo- I was getting 7 psi, although occasionly it seemed to momentarily lose power under load and go down to 5 psi...

Those turbosmart boost controllers use a spring and ball type system.... My one didn't work either and I found the sring inside was to strong and wouldn't let the system open... i cut a coil or 2 off and it worked perfectly! I know it doesn't solve your problem but if you get the root problem sorted you might want to try that...
