Widebody Side Mirrors.. Need help trying to install

Post by oped »

Hey guys, i just purchased a set of wide body side mirrors and put them on, but came across a few issues... Has anyone here installed the widebody mirrors on their car?

1. they bolt on (not perfectly) but the range of view is shit... The drivers side is not too bad, but passenger side i cant even see the car.

2. I dont have any wiring for them :( . I got them off Master Flav and he had the buttons and mirrors but not the connecting wires, so i need to solve that problem. Would a electric wiring loom off a JB or JD work?

Cheers Guys

Hey man
Yeah ive got them on my car too, at full extension the view isnt too bad i find. As for the wiring i think im just going to run custom wiring which shouldnt be too difficult once i get the US wiring diagram. Il let ya know when i get round to it, its on a long list of stuff ive got to do!!

Do you know if they are different than the aus spec ones?
The one which came with mine has a little left/right switch, and buttons around them. Does yours look like that?

ive got these and they dont work because the casting angle on left and right are different so because they are off of a u.s. lh drive car what is meant to be a passenger mirror for the u.s. cars is actually for our drivers side. because the passenger mirrors are further away from the driver they cast them with more angle so they can be seen. as for the u.s. drivers mirror it is not cast angled in therefore you cant see the back or side of your car.............so the moral is left hand drive mirrors dont work on right hand drive cars.

I have them on mine and had to modify the internal bracketry to get a good view. I really like the convex drivers mirror that eliminates the bad blind spot that all Starions have, but it is not strictly legal.
I hooked the US mirrors up to an Aus spec switch using custom wiring. The wiring diagram is simple enough to follow.

The glass does stick out a bit, but they work perfectly and have the full range of travel. I'll try to remember to take a pic of them.
