Playing around cleaning up the JA today i had a good look at the standard bonnet scoop design. Has anyone made the holes bigger in theirs and have they noticed any difference? Lower temp while driving or lower temp when stuck in traffic.
Ive got a spare scoop thats had its holes enlarged. Just wondering if its a waste of time painting it up.
Lower on on car is standard, One on top has been cutout.

Hey Brendan,
if you put a cut out scoop you gonna
have water always being pushed round
between the frame and skin, the same
thing happens when you drill the side scoops
It!s still a good thing I reckon.
There is a good way to vent more under bonnet
heat and thats to stack the bonnet hinges with
washers and remove the bonnet weather strip.
Cheers:Phil.

Merlin has done this on his. He has also replaced the side vents with Cosworth ones :o
It looks very good - does it work though?
Yes but there is no point in doing it if you dont have some form of exhaust vents ala Merlins Cosworth ones. You can force the air in but it has to have somewhere to go to cool properly.
You need to be careful with the side vents and where you place them as water can get into the engine bay and affect the electrics.
